Thanks, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I feel like I'm failing as a parent when it comes to meal time. Its always a tug of war with meals. She fights me during every single meal. I have such a not in my stomach during meal time. Does Belle like to say NO? Hannah says NO all day long. I catch myself screaming at the top of my lungs. I hate it when I get to that point.

What snacks do you use? As far as soft or crunchy, neither really bother her. When we grill out, if something is well done, or hard she'll throw up if she eats it. I have no idea what to give her for lunch. She likes chicken nuggets, ham, grilled cheese. That about sums it up. Obviously she can't eat the grilled cheese, so I got the GF bread, (haven't tried it yet) and I got some vegan cheese, YUCK! I wouldn't give it to my dogs. I feel so horrible expecting her to eat this stuff. What cheese do you use? Do you shop at Whole Foods?

My husband wants to get the tests run w/ Dr. H. She has been so constipated over the last 2 years, but its getting better since we switched to the DariFree Potato Milk. Please, don't feel that you are pushing anything on me. I want to know what ever you are willing to share about your experience. You are the first person that I've met who has such a similar situation.

Our Appt is April 6 & 7. We have to spend the night down there, so they can do the inital visit then the testing the next day.

Like I said before. Any info that you want to share about your ABA training, food that your daughter likes, what to expect at the dr. appt. Really, anything will be so helpful at this point.

Thanks so much, and I'm so glad we found eachother.

Hey,
Thanks for sharing with me. Hannah was the same way, but at two she kind of leveled off. She wasn't interested in the potty anymore, and was still using a lot of jargon talk. I thought that was attributed to me watching younger children at home. But when I started teaching preK, a two's class, thats when I noticed the big difference in her language compared to theirs. I was stunned at how she would just play alone, and not associate with 1 or 2 kids. We had her eval'd at Project Enlightenment, and she was really uncooperative. But that's Hannah. They basically told me that since she's not doing what we are asking, then we have to put her as being "below avg". I hit the roof, that was not acceptable to me. We decided to start her w/ just speech therapy and she made some really good progress. She still has trouble with her pronouns, but she talks in complete sentences, but they are very "scripted" its not just casual conversation.

Wake County also only gave us 1/mo speech for 30 min. What the hell good is that going to do? I wanted so badly to also do the ABA, but like you said, there is nothing around here, and I'm just not sold on TEACCH. So any pointers that you want to throw my way will be soooo appreciated.
Hannah is also in a Pre-K prog through school, full time, but , she is the only student in the class right now, so it definitley has its advantages and not. It would be great to get the girls together. Maybe we can meet up one day.

We have an appt w/ Dr Harum in Wilmington in April to get some testing done. I have to be honest, I'm a little scared, b/c I don't know what it entails. Is that who you saw? We have also started the GFCF diet. She's on Dari-Free potato milk, and eating what ever "regular" food we can give her, but she hasn't liked ANYTHING that I have tried. She's really, really, really picky. And has a sensory issue with food. She'll just throw up some times if something has a weird texture. She'll eat any meat, and LOVES rice and potatoes. No veggies, only a couple of fruits. The hard thing for me is the snacks. She loves Teddy Grahams, and Goldfish. She won't try anything else I give her. Its so hard! I don't want her to starve, plus this food is so freakin' expensive! Does your daughter like anything in particular that maybe I should try? What about sliced cheese? Hannah loves grilled cheese. Any thoughts? I'm sorry this is turning into a book, I just haven't met anyone with such a similar situation. Thank you again, and any feedback is so welcomed!

Wow, 18 mo? That's young. What was her original dianosis? First they said Hannah was High Functioning, and then they gave her the ADOS test, and they changed it to Moderate. I'm not convinced of that, I was able to sit in on her evaluations, and saw how she was with the evaluators. Like most 4 year olds, is very stubborn. She knew how to do a lot of the stuff that they were asking her to do, and she just wouldn't cooperate. Ya know? So, I'm just a bit frustrated.
What therapies, if any, have you found that were helpful with you little girl? I would love to get any feedback or ideas that you are willing to share.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
